Michael J. Riley
Artist - U.S.A
Following his graduation from the Art Institute of Philadelphia in 1984 with a degree in Commercial Art, Michael J. Riley began his career as a freelance illustrator and writer. He has since gone on to provide creative services to many local, national and international organizations. His work is represented in both private and commercial collections.
Michael is a frequent exhibitor and a passionate advocate for the arts. Among his favorite subjects are history, spirituality and self-empowerment. Michael is also an accomplished poet. His poem, “No Fancy Parade” appeared in Essence Magazine’s 2004 Anniversary Issue. In 2007, he was presented with a Point of Light Service Award from Mother African Union Church, which was founded by Peter Spencer, a former slave and is the oldest independent African American church in the United States.
Whether creating a piece of artwork or writing a poem, Michael relies heavily upon his faith for guidance and inspiration. He believes that his creations are, at their roots, divinely-inspired exchanges of ideas, principals and emotions. A silent, yet powerful conversation between an artist and his audience.
