BIOGRAPHY

Marialba Amengual was born in Caracas, Venezuela. She studied at the Catholic School Santo Angel in her birthplace, and received an Interior design degree from the Design Institute of Las Mercedes.

From a very early age she received art classes from Joaquin Caicedo and Magaly Castillo, both of whom are very famous artists in Venezuela. She hails from a family of artists, where her mother always made art a priority in their everyday activities. She was always surrounded by influential artists like; Tomas Golding, Joaquin Caicedo, and Virgilio Trompiz, just to name a few.

Marialba, at the young age of 13, visited Roma, Italy where she fell in love with art and her talents flourished. Her favorite artists are; Miguel Angel, Salvador Dali, Fernando Botero, Frida Khalo (due to her authenticity), and her own mother, due to her beautiful work in enamel on metal.

Since she was a child, her favorite toys were pencils, colored pencils and drawing blocks. As she grew older it later changed to acrylics and canvas. She has quite a bit of experience with oil, watercolor and pastels. Her favorite color is red as it brings white as light. Red prevails in most of her work. She also uses the circle as a geometric figure frequently as it represents unity, void and infinity itself. Her style is abstract with geometric figures and her source of inspiration is life and dreams.
