It is all about who you know. There are many art works of thousands of great artists around the world that are gathering dust in their attics or in their desk drawers. The thing is, they cannot get their art works recognized, and because of this they give up. It is all about who you know in the industry. Artists put a lot of time and effort into their art works, but they cannot find recognition. I am one of those artists. Professional pencil sketch artists have viewed my art works and have complimented me, but the only thing is that those artists are hundreds of miles away, and although they continue to be a big inspiration to me, I cannot fullfil my dream of becoming recognized in this field. LINK N1 - this is a sketch of the former president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela. I spent 3 days on this sketch and although it is all about a famous man, getting this one sold has become a headache. I am sure that hundreds of artists can relate to me and also complain of the impossibility of getting their art works sold. Well, I have to admit that I specialize in nude art. It is something that I am confortable with, and whenever I complete a piece, my better half is always the first one to criticize. LINK N2 - this one took me about three days, and it is one of my best. Another is LINK N3 It took me 1 day to complete this. At the time, it was my second attempt at nude art, and I have to admit - although I thought I rushed to complete it - it still ended up being very beautiful. Another thing that I was afraid of when creating my art works was the fact that a woman's eyes made me uncomfortable. For years this was a problem, but after completing LINK N4 I overcame that feeling very quickly. There are just so many artists that would sacrifice a lot when attempting a piece, but there are people that don't even realize how much time actually went into those art works. Another problem many artists have - I was one of them - was the hands. Many artists excluded these from their sketches, because they are difficult to draw. there are 4 hands in this drawing and it took me 1 and a half hours to complete each one. It was my first attempt at drawing realistic hands and I must say that I completed these to perfection! Artists need to get recognized and there is nothing more they can do to their art works to become recognized. What do they have to do in order to become recognized if they are already showing the world things many other people can't see? Take the time to view my art works at http://www.wanae.com/Melberrieking and also many of the other great artists around the world.
