ANY OTHER ARTISTS OUT THERE??

I just wanted to say hello to everyone on this website, and see if there are any other artists that wish to communicate. I have read the other blogs, and can identify with wanting more publicity with the work of artists. It is difficult to reach the art world with your work...fact. It seems that the more education you have..the more Associations, Degrees, Pedigrees, etc. helps people to understand that you know what you are talking about...very untrue. Did Michaelangelo have a degree?? Vincent Van Gough? Art is seen through the eyes, felt by a fingertip, heard by ears, even tasted by the toungue. It is everywhere. Some people are more acute, others will just walk by emotionless. Expressing yourself on canvas or any other media is what I do. Trying to get recognition for my work....If it is meant to be..will happen. Apply yourself, and hope for the best. The words "starving artist" are very true. Someday I hope to devote myself full time to painting....and I admire anyone doing so. I am sure that there are other artists just like myself on this website..write me an email, express your opinions..another form or art!! Frank Baggett

Art Works and Artists

It is all about who you know. There are many art works of thousands of great artists around the world that are gathering dust in their attics or in their desk drawers. The thing is, they cannot get their art works recognized, and because of this they give up.

It is all about who you know in the industry. Artists put a lot of time and effort into their art works, but they cannot find recognition. I am one of those artists. Professional pencil sketch artists have viewed my art works and have complimented me, but the only thing is that those artists are hundreds of miles away, and although they continue to be a big inspiration to me, I cannot fullfil my dream of becoming recognized in this field.

LINK N1 - this is a sketch of the former president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela. I spent 3 days on this sketch and although it is all about a famous man, getting this one sold has become a headache. I am sure that hundreds of artists can relate to me and also complain of the impossibility of getting their art works sold.

Well, I have to admit that I specialize in nude art. It is something that I am confortable with, and whenever I complete a piece, my better half is always the first one to criticize. LINK N2 - this one took me about three days, and it is one of my best. Another is LINK N3 It took me 1 day to complete this. At the time, it was my second attempt at nude art, and I have to admit - although I thought I rushed to complete it - it still ended up being very beautiful.

Another thing that I was afraid of when creating my art works was the fact that a woman's eyes made me uncomfortable. For years this was a problem, but after completing LINK N4 I overcame that feeling very quickly.

There are just so many artists that would sacrifice a lot when attempting a piece, but there are people that don't even realize how much time actually went into those art works. Another problem many artists have - I was one of them - was the hands. Many artists excluded these from their sketches, because they are difficult to draw. there are 4 hands in this drawing and it took me 1 and a half hours to complete each one. It was my first attempt at drawing realistic hands and I must say that I completed these to perfection!

Artists need to get recognized and there is nothing more they can do to their art works to become recognized. What do they have to do in order to become recognized if they are already showing the world things many other people can't see?

Take the time to view my art works at http://www.wanae.com/Melberrieking and also many of the other great artists around the world.

What inspires me!!!

I am inspired by the many unknown people who make a huge difference in poor communities all over the world. They do not do it for any reward but they have a passion that is driven by their understanding of their place in society. Some of them are popular, some are not. The late Princess Diana was such a good person. She was committed to helping people. I have also met unknown people who work in slums, refugee camps, with the disabled, with street kids and with many other disadvantaged people in society.
