T.A.Grainger ( tag )
Northern Ontario ( Canada )
A Canadian visual artist and poet from Northern Ontario, T.A.Grainger (tag) explores the ever changing phenomenon of human relationships. Our familial, spiritual and environmental experiences are interpreted through the artist’s digital imagery and sculpture.
My fascination with creating the illusion of reality with pencil and paper began as a young boy and I have been doing so ever since. I studied the Graphic Arts (Jurgen Mohr, Denis Geden ) and Photography (Mike DeMoree) while in college and Fine Art (Paul Kelly) while in university. But the discovery of the computer as a medium for creative expression has provided me the greatest degree of artistic satisfaction.
Digital art has been the focus of my 2-dimensional work for several years now with photography being the principle component. I use nature’s colours as my palette and manipulate her designs using scanned and/or digital photographs and/or scanned objects to create surreal and abstract imagery.
I have been cataloguing images in both film and digital formats, for many years and have been using them in the creation of new works. Often unrecognizable in their natural form, the shapes and colours become splashes of paint in the surreal and abstract images that the viewer is left to interpret through their own experience.
